Blues and Bolton Linked With Aldershot Midfielder
Saturday, 15th May 2021 19:55

Town and Bolton are reported to be showing interest in Aldershot midfielder Jermaine Anderson, who is a free agent this summer.

Anderson joined the Vanarama National League Shots in December last year having left Bradford during the summer.

Now Football Insider claim the Blues and Trotters are keen on the 24-year-old, who has scored four times in 25 starts and three sub appearances since joining Aldershot.

Anderson was a schoolboy with Arsenal’s academy before moving on to Peterborough’s youth set-up and broke into Posh’s first-team in 2012.

Having had a spell on loan at Doncaster, London-born Anderson, who won England caps at U18 and U20 levels, joined Bradford on a similar basis in January 2019 before making the move permanent the following summer.

Town boss Paul Cook is understood to be looking to rebuild his squad with players of Championship quality this summer, so a move for a player from the National League with no experience above League One level would be a surprise.

Can't be any truth in this because it would be madness to get rid of the likes of Dozzell and Downes to Championship clubs and replace them with players of this calibre.

Rumours OR danger signs ?Future policy remains shrouded in mystery ,without any declarations of substance or detail .
That's not surprising for PC will be keeping cards close ,and won't want to pay too much ,by anyone's standards .
It's a wait and see game ,for everyone !

Hmm, let's hope not, too reminiscent of Hursts signings. Proven players at League 1 or hopefully higher.

I was about to say the same thing, Skip. It's beginning to feel like H#$rt v. 2.0. I am hoping Cook's is brighter (and less arrogant) than that.

Never going to happen.

He didn't impress in in a team that came 15th in the National League. Enough said.

Not saying hes someone I'd necessarily want us to sign. But why do some fans just write players off from that level of the game. Jamie vardy hasnt exactly done badly for himself has he? Or Tyrone mings. Just 2 players Look back a few years and see where simon milton came from, to sign for us. A lot lower level than this guy. Would be surprised if theres anything in this story tho.

We have a revised, data driven recruitment approach, so let's give it a chance. There will be experience but surely room for hungry, untested players too.....if the data says they have something that fits our new playing model!

Hopefully this is a wake up call to the idiots who think we'll be signing great players for huge fees. We've let better players than him go in the last week

Am i missing something?ITFC get rid of 8 players and are looking to replace them with out of contract players.Players,i assume, aren't deemed worthy enough for another contract at the club they're with.Worrying, unless somebody on this forum can explain.

Has PC no trust in players like Baggott, McGavin, ( who's better than Dozzell ) EL Mizouni? To reach down to Vanarama National League level as said in previous post stinks of Hurst and will only give Town a sniff at league 2, I maybe wrong but only time will tell. We are in danger of losing plays to a higher level of football but only reaching down to lower leagues to replace them, PC has already shown his traits by saying he wont throw players under a bus then then tells them they play like a Sunday league team ??? he needs to put his mouth where his job is, if no promotion he should resign.

i personally think we should be looking at players in leagues below, there is plenty of good players at places like, crewe, cheltenham, newport, mansfield etc. but if we are to look in conference they would be wise to look at Tshimanga at borehamwood, 31 goals from 65 games at a club like that is exceptional, and at 24 not a bad age, vardy was no spring chicken when he was found. I also think Hurst was not given enough time or backing, Evans went for the cheaper option to get rid of the manager instead of backing him to get rid of the bad eggs, players didnt like him because he said they were'nt fit, how true thats turned out, so, would we be in a worse position if Hurst was still here, he was making us hard to beat and could see progress when he was sacked, but we certainly would not have been relegated without a whimper as we did under Lambert, who had plenty of time to turn it round. So, personally I am all for young and hungry as apposed to an ageing player passed his best dropping down. But as we have so many coaches now perhaps we could actually coach some of our own players for a change, as I cant think of 1 player that improved under Lambert. For me the jury is out on Cook, and I am not impressed with Jeffers as a coach, cant see what he can bring to the table, but, we live in hope

strange

would have hoped to see a better class of player being hunted personally now we have new owners, this looks too much like ''same old'' barrel scraping to me .

Don't panic folks just agent's hyping up their customers. PC isn't stupid done this before and got success so I don't think he will be after players that don't fit into his long term plans. Remember paying over the top for players doesn't mean they are great. Personally I'd wait till Ashton takes over as most of the buying players will happen then. Like I said rumours are rumours agents want a nice fee for their services more clubs involved the more they can earn not rocket science.

Is this Paul Hurst all over again? Getting shot of decent players all ready here and replacing them with lower league players? I hope not!

Strange one this not against getting players from lower leagues but he doesn't seem to have had a outstanding career in the lower league's. Would prefer we targeted the better players in league one or experienced players from the championship like Bradley from Luton as reported would be an excellent addition to the squad.

arc my down vote was for the idea of cook being brighter and less arrogant. He's not shown he's either so far:
