Tuesday April 23rd horse racing tips

  • YARMOUTH - 3.45: Lennox 5/4 (NB - 2pts)
  • EPSOM - 2.45: Chief Little Rock 5/4 (NAP - 2pts), 3.20: Dual Identity 11/2 each-way (1pt) 3.55: The Goat 11/2 each-way (1.5pts)

Lennox

Lennox placed well behind Majed, which is form that bodes well for his return as a three-year-old.

The colt finished well beyond his odds of 16/1 when coming third to Bold Style, the Godolphin-owned and Charlie Appleby-trained with James Doyle in the saddle.

Majed has gone on to be second to Dunstan back in February and the Harry Eustace-trained horse should go on well in this field on that basis.

Yaajooz is the main rival in the betting as the second favourite but has much more experience, yet still hasn't got ahead including in two attempts on the all-weather as a three-year-old.

Chief Little Rock

One of many coming over for trainer Aidan O'Brien ridden by Ryan Moore that whets the appetite for the upcoming flat season's big races.

The three-year-old colt did win once last season but has just been beaten on three other occasions in second place in top-class races, including last time out Autumn Stakes and at Curragh in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes.

This Galileo colt has always hinted at being better, but has justified favouritism on the one occasion he was favourite for.

His second to Deepone was encouraging while Ancient Wisdom's win at Newmarket was bolstered by his win in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Doncaster as he won ahead of Devil's Point.

Dual Identity

Neil Callan boards Dual Identiy who returns to 1m2f which is the trip this gelding last won at quite comfortably.

He's been disappointing since but should fare well back as a six-year-old and can go well fresh.

The Goat

The Goat had previously been set to be a serial winner after his 12 length victory which saw him go up 12lb at Goodwood.

He's since had three races over the course of the 2023 flat season but has not been able to live up to that hype just yet.

But he's been gelded and is still in the more than capable hands of Oisin Murphy and trained by Andrew Balding who can get him back to winning ways.

His form in Class 2 races last season does bring encouragement for his four-year-old campaign and is being dropped back to 1m4f for the first time since that incredible win in August.
